The Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur)
is a premier technology & research institute of global repute. In October, 2006,
Times Higher Education Supplement compiled a list of the top 100 universities in
the world, IIT ranked 57th, though US and British universities dominate global
rankings.
AVerVision530 is unique... We share information directly from books, samples &
specimens. It has made our lives easier."
- Professor Kinshuk Naskar, IIT Kharagpur.
By using visualizers (document cameras),
the professors can do demonstrations with real 3-D objects, instead of paper
or slide copy. Seeing all the benefits of the initial rollout, IIT Kharagpur is
aggressively deploying more units of the
AVerVision530 in their facilities. Just like Professor PK Das, the head
of Audio Visual Committee, said, "We are extremely happy with the performance
and utility of AVerVision530
as it has made our task much simpler. We are planning to increase the installation
of AVerVision530
in many galleries and classrooms."
It's no doubt that display technology is popularly adopted in many educational environments.
With carefully selected tools, educators can spend much less time preparing the
lessons and make them visually rich and interesting. Professor Kinshuk Naskar
of the Rubber Technology Centre said, "AVerVision530
is unique; it has completely changed the way we conduct seminars and prepare the
lectures. Gone are those days of making tedious transparency slides. We share information
directly from books, samples & specimens. It has made our lives easier." The
professors found they don't need to carry heavy laptops or soft copies. "We
carry only documents and blank sheets to write and present to the senate members
instantaneously. Earlier senate meeting preparation used to take a long time and
we were all tensed. But now with the availability of the
AVerVision530, it is so easy!" said Dr. D. Sen, Member, Senate Committee.
AVerVision530
also benefits students. The students of IIT said, "We have the option of downloading
the entire seminar sessions in the PC and then take it in our pen drives. We now
concentrate on the documents and objects shown and not on taking down notes."
AVerVision530's
optical zoom and auto focus help a lot not only while an experiment is conducted,
but also while any 3-D objects need to be reviewed and shared at the same time
in the whole class.
"Research journals are now able to be discussed among the entire class with
the AVerVision530.
The 12X optical zoom and auto focus features are particularly useful as minute details
such as organic structures, specimens, mechanical spares, PCBs, architecture models,
et cetera, can be shown and discussed vividly in the class," said Mr.
Debasis Gayen, a technologist in the Bio-Technology Department.
Professor Uttam Banerjee, HOD, Dept. of Architecture & Regional Planning especially
appreciates the time-saving arising from
AVerVision530. He thinks it enables the whole class to discuss 3-D architectural
models more easily, as it was so difficult and time consuming before. He said, "Moreover,
the capture feature enables us to discuss certain creative models made by a previous
batch of students with the new batch."
"Earlier … preparation used to take a long time and we were all tensed.
But now with the availability of the AVerVision530, it is so easy!"
